Concours d’Lemons Announces 2019 Half-Assed Detailing Contest
Despite the best efforts of zoning commissions, law enforcement, and court orders, the Concours d’Lemons returns for 2019. Now bigger and dumber than ever. We’ve expanded the crapcan car show to ruin the Amelia Island Concours Weekend with the imaginatively named inaugural Concours d’Lemons Amelia Island. Taking place the day before and just around the corner from the Amelia Island Concours, we expect some amazingly bad hoopties to show up, because Florida. Do you have some crap can rotting in the swamp? Pull it out and bring to the show.
New for this year at all of our standalone events in the US—excluding HooptieCon—is the Half Car/Half Assed Car Detailing Competition, brought to you by Meguiar’s. Teams will compete to detail the heck out of one side of their ride in the time allowed. In typical Lemons fashion, it is not enough for you and a couple of your idiot friends to just detail up your Hooptie Honda… but if you do it while wearing chicken suits? Now yer talking.
Winners will be determined by our capricious judges on the basis of team detailing prowess, fun had and costumes worn. The top team will receive a prize pack of Meguiar’s Car Care Products, because let’s face it, if you are entering this competition, your cars need all the help it can get.
The Concours d’Lemons is sponsored by Classic Motorsports Magazine and Hagerty Insurance, although neither want to admit it. Thanks to their help, spectators and registration is free. That way you get what you pay for.
