2021 Greenwich Concours d’Lemons – Winners and Photos

The inaugural Greenwich Concours d’Lemons clattered onto the waterfront green at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, as part of Hagerty’s Greenwich Concours weekend. A revised two-day format featured a full classic concours on Sunday and a less buttoned down gathering on Sat. that featured RadWood, Porschella and the oil burning, rust crumbling hoopties of the Concours d’Lemons. Good examples of bad cars and bad examples of good cars thrilled the crowd while wild eyed owners extolled the virtues of their crap cans to anyone who dared get close enough.

Connie Rainey of Glastonbury, CT took home “Worst of Show” honors with her showroom condition 1978 Ford Pinto. Connie restored the diminutive pony car after determining the tangerine color and “Alpine Plaid” interior were too rare a combo to be used as a parts car for their 24Hours of Lemons Pinto racing effort.  As part of the restoration Connie swapped in a 2.3L turbo charged motor from a mid 1980’s Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, doubling the Pinto’s horsepower. The ill-advised engine swap, restoring a car that most would rather scrap and providing the judges with “fireball” themed bribes earned Connie top honors and one of the show’s thrift store sourced trophies.

The Concours d’Lemons is inexplicably sponsored by these otherwise respectable companies:
Hagerty
eBay Motors
Griot’s Garage
Classic Motorsports Magazine
