Fiero/Bravada/S-10 Lemons Truck With a Blower: Makes Sense to Us

We saw some interesting body and engine-swap modifications Chevolvo, a small-block-powered Volvo 244 modified over the years to look like various types of iconic Chevrolets. That car is pretty sane, next to the NAFM Racing… well, we’re not sure quite what to call it.

It’s loosely based on a Pontiac Fiero, but there’s a lot of Olds Bravada and Chevy S-10 involved here. When it showed up at the biggest endurance race in history, we weren’t quite sure what to make of it.

There’s a supercharged 3800 V6, torn from a 1990s GM front-drive sedan, behind the cab. Because, you know, why wouldn’t you go with supercharging in something like this?

During the BS inspection, the incredible workmanship and fabrication skills on display in this car convinced us that NAFM Racing must have gone way over the budget, and we felt compelled to assign it some penalty laps. Upon further examination, however, we realized that it’s all sweat and few bucks, and we ended up giving the team the Judges’ Choice trophy. The car (or truck, or whatever you want to call it) suffered from a lot of teething problems and didn’t turn many laps, but we expect it to do better at its second race.
