2022 Calendar: Lemons Announces 31-Event Calendar

The 2022 Lemons calendar carries on a 17th season of poorly prepared teams campaigning $500 cars in discouragingly long races. With 21 races, six rallies, and four Concours d’Lemons car shows, Lemons gives oddball cars and their enthusiasts a broad playing field.

The Schedules

For 24 Hours of Lemons races, long-running staples MSR Houston and Thunderhill Raceway both appear as they have for the last 15 years. Those join a cast of crapcan-tolerant racing facilities that include impeccable facilities like Barber Motorsports Park and homes to big-dollar racing like NASCAR regulars Sonoma Raceway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Because some dates remain subject to date changes—some owing to COVID-related delays, others related to normal scheduling headaches—24hoursoflemons.com will announce updated dates so check back frequently.

Yokohama Tire continues in 2022 as the official tire of the 24 Hours of Lemons. The Yokohama Road Mangler Cup will again give teams the chance to win a set of Yokohama Tires simply by running Yokohama tires with the Lemons-very-approved Road Mangler LM graphics.

If you’re looking for a teammate or for a car to race, Lemons’ own OkStupid matchmaker site allows you to find teammates. OkStupid allows you to find teammates using the Lemons database, the Lemons Forum, or Facebook (where you’re already spending an inordinate amount of time). Check out OkStupid right here.

The Lemons Rally–a sort of long-distance scavenger hunt that features terrible, forgettable, or otherwise strange road cars–adds another event to its calendar this year. The Rally calendar includes long-weekend trips like through the California Redwoods and through New England during peak leaf-peeping season. There will also be slightly longer rallies out of Denver as well as a five-day slog up the Mississippi River to cap the Rally season

The Concours d’Lemons will continue making a mockery of stuffy car gatherings with [x] car shows. Celebrating the oddball, mundane, and truly awful, the CdL hosts car shows with multiple categories like Unmitigated Gaul and Rust Belt American Junk. Several events run in conjunction with “real” car events like the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and Monterey Car Week.
